Here is a brief snapshot of what we got up to in October and what is happening next.

Unite in the Wild

This was an amazing day. 57 young people from 7 churches and The Youth Centre attended. The young people had a great time and the activities, worship and speakers were enjoyed by all.  We have had some very positive feedback from young people’s parents and the youth leaders who attended.

Drop-in

We are delighted that we are now regularly welcoming over 10 young people each session.

Two more volunteers have completed recruitment checks and so will be starting to help but we are still very short of help on Fridays and could do with an extra person each evening ideally, even if only to keep on top of the washing up!! One lad from TWCF who has been coming into the drop in wants to help us for his DofE volunteering which will be great.

We ran 2 special half term events and plan to run special events over the Christmas holidays.
We also made a  ‘streets of light’ window which looked great and got a lot of attention on social media. Further windows for Remembrance and Christmas are being planned.

Christmas hampers

Christmas Gifts with love

Berti is raising money to send Christmas presents to the young people in the 2 hostels again. He is sleeping out on 12th November and would love you to sponsor him.  We would love to be able to give the young people a bag filled with Christmas treats, practical presents and the Christmas message of Jesus.

Please sponsor Berti here

Berti has been asked to support the Remembrance service at North Kent College in Tonbridge.  He is continuing to support year 6s at Temple Grove as well as helping St Matthews with their youth group and supporting a group of young adults.

Our next big Unite event is Unite Live on 4th February 2022.
Chip Kendall, a Christian dance, rock and rap singer is coming to Christ Church Tunbridge Wells.  We would love to see young people from across the town at this event.
Tickets are available here.

The Noise, our social action project, will happen in the town centre from 6th – 8th April 2022.  We will be based at Tunbridge Wells Christian Fellowship and the Youth Centre.

Points for prayer

  • Give thanks for Unite in the Wild and pray for Unite Live
  • Give thanks for the drop in at the Youth Centre and pray for more volunteers
  • Pray that we raise enough money to give meaningful presents to the homeless young adults in local hostels
  • Pray that the administration issues that are stopping Berti going regularly to North Kent College get sorted
  •  Give thanks for the number of churches who have asked Karen to speak and pray that those churches would support us financially, in prayer and with volunteers.
