We have had a busy month as we head towards the end of term.
We spent a great week in Bethany School running prayer spaces for years 7 – 9 as part of their RE lessons.
We had fantastic feedback from the young people about how much they had enjoyed the activities.
We have been very busy in The Youth Centre. We have been giving ice pops and cold drinks away to hot students after school. We are very grateful that we have now got an air-conditioner fitted so our centre is now cool as well as welcoming.
Berti was able to give the “It’s your move” book to all the year 6s in Temple Grove Academy and The Wells Free school as well as inviting them to The Youth Centre and our summer activities. We have had great feedback about how helpful the books are and have had new year 6s at The Youth Centre as a result.
Berti went with Temple Grove on their year 6 residential to a PGL centre after mentoring some of the students over the last year. Although he didn’t get much sleep he had a great time and the staff and students appreciated his support.
We are finishing our after school sessions at The Youth Centre on 25th July with a celebration for the year 6 leavers.
Over the summer we are running two types of activities:
On some Tuesday and Thursday afternoons we are running Sport in the Park at Calverley Park and on some Wednesday and Friday afternoons we are running Games at the Clock in the town centre.
You may remember that we raised funds during The Noise to twin our toilet. We were delighted to be presented our certificate by Jean Meadows from Tunbridge Wells Soroptimists which takes Tunbridge Wells a bit closer to being a Toilet Twined Town. We have twined our toilet with one in Zambia.
Fundraising news:
We are delighted that Alastair Caisley of Keogh Caisley Solicitors and Notaries has offered to provide a free will service for anyone who wanted to leave a legacy to Tunbridge Wells Youth for Christ.
We intend to walk again to raise money for Tunbridge Wells Youth for Christ.
This year we are walking from Rochester to Tunbridge Wells along old pilgrim routes on 10th September 2022.
Our outgoings are about £70,000 a year which we fund mainly through personal donations and gifts from local churches. Over the last few years our fundraising walk has closed the gap between our income and expenditure.
Prayer points:
- Give thanks for the prayer space at Bethany
- Give thanks for The Youth Centre and all the young people we have met this year. Pray for year 6 as they move to new schools.
- Pray for the summer activities
