On Bank Holiday Monday, Tunbridge Wells Youth For Christ took part in an Easter Family Day on the Showfields Estate.
The day was organised in partnership with local organisations including the Number One Community Trust and there were lots of stalls and activities, including raffles, crafts for children and plenty of tea and coffee!
Together with Tunbridge Wells Christian Fellowship we organised an Easter Treasure Hunt – children followed the clues to find them empty tomb, where a very special guest was waiting for them! They then completed a scavenger hunt, finding everyday objects that represented different elements of the Easter Story, in order to receive their prizes. Every child that completed the hunt received a full size Easter Egg, thanks to the generous congregation of TWCF.
The items each child collected includes:
A branch or twig: a week before the Crucifixion, Jesus entered the city and the people waved branches.
Something prickly: a crown of thorns was placed on His head.
A piece of wood: they nailed Him to a cross.
White linen: after He died, Jesus was wrapped in grave clothes.
Something no longer alive: Jesus died for our sins.
A stone: It was rolled away!
Something living: Jesus rose again and is alive today!
It was wonderful to complete the scavenger hunt with some of the children and have some fantastic conversations about Easter and what it means to be Jesus’ friend.
All in all, it was a wonderful day with beautiful weather – a huge well done to Berti who was instrumental in making the day such a success.
