Thank you for all your prayers for us and the young people we work with.
Give thanks that Berti organised an Easter family event on Easter Monday at Showfields. It was great to have Youth for Christ, Number One Community Centre and members of St Marks Church and Tunbridge Wells Christian Fellowship working together. We saw about twenty families and look forward to building relationships with them and the extended community.
Berti took a group of young men from Showfields to a football tournament on Saturday 21 April and they won the trophy! Berti is investigating further opportunities for them to play together.
On 18 April Berti started his lads group. He began by playing football with them to build up a relationship before embarking on the myLife programme. myLife has lots of potential sessions and subjects to cover and Berti needs to get to know the boys a bit to discover what they will best benefit from.
Give thanks for The Noise which took place over the Easter holidays In Sherwood. Over 50 young people from churches across Tunbridge Wells came to worship and serve the community. It was great to see young people getting involved with projects – they gardened, picked up litter, played football, helped at the food bank and much more.
We were thrilled that the Courier published an article and photograph. Please pray that the enthusiasm to join together would extend to the next Unite.
The next Unite is on 20 May and we are linking it to the Tunbridge Wells Week of Prayer. The youth leaders are all setting up prayer stations and Linnea is giving a short talk on prayer. Last year when we ran a similar evening the young people really engaged with prayer so we would love to see that again.
Emmy is organising, jointly, with Crossteach, a town wide prayer meeting to pray for young people and schools, at Christ Church on 24 May. This is the week after the Tunbridge Wells week of Prayer.
When Emmy shared this with the Kairos Lite young people they were very keen to get involved.
Please continue to pray for Connect – our joint mentoring project with Life and Soul. Give thanks for a large gift from a local Trust and our first payment from the Coop Community Fund.
We currently have 13 mentors – 9 at Skinners Kent Academy (SKA) and 5 at Bennett. We are seeing an average of 13 students a week at Bennett and 23 at SKA. Please pray that we would be able to recruit more volunteer mentors. as all the volunteers are seeing the maximum number of mentees they can manage.
